Welcome! to the University of Strathclyde Sports Unions 95th year, which looks like it’s shaping up to be a great one! With the huge success that was the Commonwealth Games held in the City of Glasgow, the fantastic atmosphere and the buzz for sport is still present in the city! I hope that you are all still riding on the wave that was the Commonwealth Games and that it has encouraged you to get involved with sports here at Strathclyde! Whether you are a returning member or getting involved for the first time, I am happy to welcome you to another year of Strathclyde Sport.

Scottish sporting legends fly the flag for their unis

Former Scotland stars are backing their former universities to win inter-university tournament

Scotland caps John Beattie, Pat Nevin, and Lynne Beattie came together this week to launch Scotland’s largest inter-varsity tournament, the Glasgow Taxis Cup.

The internationals were Clydeside to show their support for their Alma Matres in the competition which has featured each of their sports – rugby, football, and volleyball – since its inception in 2005.

Lacrosse Challenge/Come & Try Session

Strathclyde Lacrosse Club will be running a taster session for new male and female players, no experience required at the CSR tomorrow from 3pm. Along side this there will be a free challenge and prize to whoever is able to score the most goals at the end of the session.

Come and try one of the fastest growing sports in the world!

Sports Development Evening - Tuesday 26th January

The Sport Union will be hosting an evening of workshops for clubs, volunteers, committees and any other students at the University of Strathclyde, featuring a key note presentation from Shirley Addison, former Olympic athlete and television celebrity – Battleaxe in the popular TV show Gladiators.

The evening is FREE to attend for all students and will kick off at 5pm on level 5 of the Union building, however you are welcome to pop along for 4:45pm for free food and drink.
