BUCS NATIONALS | Mhairi Hendry leads University of Strathclyde medal success

British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Nationals in Sheffield drew to a close yesterday, with several student athletes from #TeamStrath returning North with medals around their neck.


• Congratulations to Mhairi Hendry who added to her BUCS athletics outdoor title, winning GOLD in the indoors Women's 800m
• Adam El Shafei won a SILVER medal in the Men's Karate Individuals, qualifying in the process to represent Team GB at the EUSA Games later this year in Portugal. Joanne Allen also won BRONZE in the Women's senior U55kg category, adding to Chris Scott's Silver in day 2.
• Dominic Laing and German Duran won Judo BRONZE in the Men's U100kg and U81kg weight categories respectively
• Lewis McGuire achieved BRONZE in the Men's High Jump competition
• Alex Dunn and Sarah Findlay came 3/4 position in the Badminton Mixed Doubles competition
• Mhairi Patience came close to winning a medal in the Women's 400m athletics event, finishing in 4th place.
• Chris Lowther achieved 7th place in the Swimming Men's 1500m Freestyle
