Glasgow Taxis Cup
Strathclyde are founding members of the Glasgow Taxis Cup, Scotland's largest varsity competition. The event takes place annually pitching University of Strathclyde student teams against city counterparts from the University of Glasgow and Glasgow Caledonian University.
Varsity involves over 700 student athletes and has expanded over the years to include 17 sports featured on one Wednesday afternoon of student sport. Recent host venues include the Emirates Arena, hub location for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
In July 2017 the Glasgow Taxis Cup organising committee signed a long-term contract with Glasgow Taxis Ltd., worth over £50,000 towards the development and promotion of the nations premier Varsity competition.
